Democrats oppose Trump’s policy on Greenland: draw up bill to prevent funding for annexation

House Democrats are proposing a new bill aimed at preventing any federal government funding for the US annexation of Greenland. The bill is called “No Funds for NATO Invasion Act” is being presented in Congress by Gabe Amo and is also supported by a number of Republicans including Ron Bacon. The bill prohibits the US government funding to purchase any NATO territory.

Many Republicans have already made statements against President Trump’s plan to annex Greenland and these include Senators Lisa Murkowski, Thom Tillis, Jerry Moran, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Grassley, James Lankford and even Senate Republican majority leader John Thune. These Republican senators have come out strongly against any unilateral US military action in Greenland. There are some exceptions within the democrats such as John Fetterman who are supporting Trump’s push to annex Greenland.

EU High Representative Kaja Kallas has said the ongoing division created by Donald Trump in the Trans-Atlantic partnership is serving Russia’s and China’s interests. There is yet no official confirmation by EU officials on the suspension of the US-EU trade agreement.
