About us and Contacts

The Maltese Herald is an independent and international news site based in Malta, with a focus on Maltese affairs. Malta is an independent state with its own people, language, and culture, located in the Mediterranean Sea at the maritime crossroads between Europe and Africa. The Maltese Islands have a history that dates back more than 7,000 years. One of the finest aspects of our history, of which we are most proud, is Malta’s legacy of free speech, which officially began in 1839 with the introduction of the free press. This legacy, however, traces back even earlier with figures like Ä wann Nikol Muscat and Mikiel Anton Vassalli, and continued through history with individuals such as Manwel Dimech, Vincent (ÄŠensu) Bugeja, Peter Serracino Inglott, and Daphne Caruana Galizia. We take pride in our independence and strive to deliver to our audience daily investigative journalism on both Maltese and international affairs. The Maltese Herald is a product of Dar Camilleri, a Maltese publishing house fully owned by its founder. We are self-funded, with donations and subscriptions making up a substantial portion of our revenue. You can subscribe to our online news site here for just €15 per year, or donate here. The online news site was launched in October 2024, and a physical, regular publication is also in the works.
