An interesting statistic published by Alex Exler shows that Malta is a favorite destination for Russians. Cyprus, Germany, and Austria are also popular with Russians while countries like Portugal and Canada are more popular for being homes to Ukrainian emigres. Malta is becoming more of a Russian emigre home than a Ukrainian one.
