Rebecca Buttiġieġ, Robert Abela’s star candidate who got elected by the gender elective mechanism has turned out to be a big fraud. She knows that her use of the Labour Party is simply to exhibit her as the Party’s feminist and progressive representative, but there’s an ocean between the doing and the saying. You can listen to her lying about the Labour’s proposed abortion bill that will be putting a woman’s life at great risk.
She lies consciously and knowingly and betrays not only Maltese women but all those who believe that politics should be conducted decently, honestly, and fairly. Rebecca Buttiġieġ has no respect for her audience, nor for herself – she is very happy to serve her role as Robert Abela’s useful idiot.
the reality at the Mater Dei (the national public hospital) is that abortions have in fact been executed in the past in a hush-hush manner by Maltese doctors when the woman’s health is at risk. The law currently criminalizes abortion in any case but there is still a lot of legal ambiguity when it comes to the risk to a woman’s health, so in fact, I know very well, that contrary to the case of Adrea Prudente, there have been cases were abortions took place even when the woman’s health was at risk, but not necessarily to the extent of risking death. I know this directly from Maltese doctors who work at Mater Dei (you would be surprised how many doctors are friends of mine, despite my recent attack against them, and to make it clear, they are also VERY close friends of mine).
Now, the legal regime is going to change and clearly and explicitly erase any ambiguity and allow abortion, only in case the woman’s life is in immediate danger and after the decision is approved by a board of three doctors.
Maltese politics is tiring because Labour conducts politics fraudulently in a very single step of its way: lies, fraud, deceit, theatre, corruption, we can’t ever have a decent and honest and truthful discussion about anything. It’s always about them, irrespective the damage they cause to the country and the number of victims they create.
