Complacently opportunistic

There’s a very good reason why Chris Fearne, Clyde Caruana, Ian Borg, Rebecca Butti?ie?, and Byron Camilleri among others would speak to the Times in opposition to their own abortion bill as the name of the “liberal-wing” of the Labour Party simultaneously as they conduct propaganda theatre in its favour. It says a lot about the state of the Labour Party when you have a significant number of Labour MPs who are opposed to a bill, yet are too afraid to show their faces in public.

In many ways, I have defended these “liberal MPs” by writing about how the Labour Party has become an authoritarian cult of the Prime Minister who is paranoid, micro-manages the Party, criminal and void of any moral principle. It is true that these MPs aren’t given the freedom and the power they need to execute appropriate reforms as everything is centralised in the hands of Robert Abela. Yet, these ministers and MPs are also responsible for allowing and giving Robert Abela this excessive power in the Party. In their sadomasochistic submission, there’s also a glaring complacent opportunism where they refuse to take any risks lest they lose something from their career. This situation is especially shameful for Chris Fearne who is old, influential and rich enough to take large risks by himself, yet even when he has many allies, he fails to act accordingly and do his duty as a principled politician.

There’s a lot of spin especially by MaltaToday saying that this bill was sabotaged by the President. This is false and I can confirm that Labour Party activists are out on a limb to blame everyone for the failure whilst also defending the Prime Minister. There is a risk of any constitutional crisis with or without George Vella whose term will expire in the next year, Parliament is off for Summer recess and above all, a President who refuses to sign a law would simply have to resign – that’s not a constitutional crisis.

There is no constitutional crisis here. Instead, we have a Prime Minister who has total control over the Party and is too afraid and too idiotic to act. He finds any small challenge impossible to solve (he has zero capabilities in problem-solving). Robert rules by diktat with his even more idiotic propagandists and aides like Aleander Balzan and Aaron Zahra. It’s like a Brezhnev administration, really, with a clique of corrupt and criminal idiots running the state while they wreck everything they touch. Then, you have the “liberal wing” who is becoming ever more corrupt and opportunistic, complacently complaint to the Prime Minister’s havoc lest they lose the opportunity on a cabinet position or ruffle the feathers of a couple of thug-like imbeciles who sit in the Executive Committee.

There was a time when just one Nationalist MP backbencher would cause a total ruckus to hsi own government – and this happened many times. Yet, ten Labour Labour MPs are too scared to pronounce themselves publicly so instead are confessing their sins to us journalists, hoping they will get redeemed for their actions.

Sod off, for God’s sake and take some responsibility.

Well said. They all want to protect what they could possibly one day obtain. Self serving politics to the very end both opposition and government. Thats what the Maltese parliament is all about nowadays.
