Maltese politicians will be hunting partners with surnames starting with “A”

You may remember Clint Flores who was featured on this website last year as the purveyor of doom who bought the Russian propaganda that Europe will freeze and gas prices will remain high forever.

Apparently, he got married to his long-time partner Ray Azzopardi and Clint took the opportunity of this to change his surname to “Azzopardi Flores”. This will give him the advantage of the donkey vote in the next elections for the European Parliament in 2024 as he will be among the first in the list (the candidates are listed alphabetically by their surname).

One of the early pioneers of this political tradition was the champion of donkeys himself, Alex Agius Saliba, “It-Tander”: straight from his bedroom at his mother’s to make it big in the European Parliament. Back in my day, he was known as Alex Saliba, then he contested the elections.

Malta’s electoral system supports the incumbent and has barriers to entry for small parties. It also incentivizes rent-seeking, corruption, and dumb idiots like Alex It-Tander, but Labour politicians only consolidate it with their cynical behaviour. And it’s always a very big red flag when people show excessive zeal in trying to obtain power, especially when it comes from young people living in their mother’s house.

Not related to this and not sure where best to post this comment – but what the ToM reports this morning of 1million being spent out of the public coffers to entertain film industry VIPs needs attention and fast. This calls for the immediate resignation of the responsible minister. The industry needs to be pumping money into the coffers not the other way round! This stinks and evidently a front to the usual kick-backs to who knows whom. These events are tolerated by the Maltese close-mindedness because they’re in the shadow of film productions which attract hundreds of extras. Nothing against those who enjoy featuring as extras, but let’s not lose focus. What an extra earns in a few days is peanuts compared to the money exchanged through shady deals. This country has become so accustomed to corrupt practices and brainwashed by Labour’s agenda that nobody cares less. No wonder men and women of value are leaving the Island – and the reason I’m always given as to why they’re leaving is that the country has deteriorated to a point of no return. Not all of us can embark on such a journey, but those who can, should. Let them cook in their own stew.

    1. Your last sentence somehow seems off-key to the rest of the comment.
Unless you don’t mean “let them stew in their own juice”.
