We have reached a point where the Labour Party’s culture of corruption and criminality is resulting in a new culture of outright cruelty. Remember how the Abelas and the government treated Valletta residents when they complained that new music regulations will not let them sleep at night? Now, see how government MPs treat Isabelle Bonnici, the mother of Jean Paul Sofia asking for a public inquiry on her son’s death.
Yesterday, in Parliament, Robert Abela interrupted Mark Anthony Sammut’s speech to claim that he has no connection whatsoever to the people managing the construction site. Mark Anthony Sammut was challenging the Prime Minister’s decision not to launch a public inquiry on the death of Jean Paul Sofia. Indeed, there is no logical reason whatsoever for refusing to launch a public inquiry other than to protect those involved in the illegal construction site where Jean-Paul Sofia died.
Robert Abela denied he was ever involved with Kurt Buhagiar, one of the developers running the government site where Jean Paul Sofia died, but this is not what various and multiple sources claim given that it is alleged that Robert Abela had once rented one of his boats to Kurt Buhagiar.
Indeed, a public inquiry would try to unravel how the government provided a piece of land to a shady group of criminals, who are also connected with the LANDS CEO, Robert Vella. This is a case of government corruption and it is being concealed and covered by the Prime Minister himself.
One needs a great deal of cruelty to go along with the Prime Minister’s position of refusing a public inquiry into the death of a construction worker that took place at an illegal development on a government site. Clearly, the government has a big responsibility to shoulder on this incident, and denying this responsibility to the mother of the worker is crass, cruel, and obscene.
