Late last year, it was reported that Robert Abela was trying to plant his lackey, Mark Simiana in the judiciary. The recommendations for the appointment of Magistrates are made by the Judicial Appointments Committee but Robert is once again pressuring the committee to appoint his friend. Mark Simiana is Robert Abela’s friend and a dedicated Labour Party supporter and loyalist.
Mark Simiana was also part of the government-appointed committee (under the false premise that the MFSA was independent) that had partly exonerated the previous MFSA CEO Joseph Cuschieri over his irregular trips with Yorgen Fenech to Las Vegas. The investigation, dubbed an “ethics probe” did not recommend a criminal investigation.
Malta is currently going through a constitutional crisis and Robert Abela who is acting as a dictator will go to great lengths to meddle with the decision on the upcoming judicial appointments.
