Narcissists wrecking the nation

I am sure there has never been in our history such a reckless and blatantly corrupt Minister who is so narcissistic that this minister proceeds to praise herself with propaganda instead of addressing a national crisis that she was responsible for that ultimately left people dead. There can be really no redemption for such crass, corrupt, and blatantly selfish narcissists in politics. Miriam Dalli has the same qualities as Robert Abela and is equally as dangerous.

Indeed, Enemalta was still floating around decently before Robert Abela and Miriam Dalli came along. Enemalta registered a ย€30 million loss in 2020 following the previous year’s loss of ย€5 million. Since 2020 it went on to keep incurring hundreds of millions of Euros in losses and today has an excess of ย€1 billion in debts. Electricity demand in 2020 was significantly less giving Enemalta ample opportunity to upgrade its infrastructure – something that never happened. Robert Abela and Miriam Dalli are addressing a serious national crisis with gimmicks. In 2021 Enemalta blamed its woes on high gas prices, but this problem was exacerbated by a stupid contract signed by Miriam Dalli and a lack of hedging – and we are still paying dearly for the consequence of this contract.

Robert Abela is saying he wants to solve the situation by throwing money from the government’s coffers at Enemalta – around ย€60 million per year he says. Both Robert and Miriam Dalli are making a big deal out of these theatrics but these are not serious people. They have no idea what they are doing, and the country is literally paying the consequences of their crass and criminal stupidity with dear life.

Enamalta is a bankrupt company that is a victim of massive corruption. Our society and our life depend on the proper running and functioning of Enemalta and Miriam Dalli and Robert Abela have proved to us explicitly and in the most clear way that they are not fit to handle such an important and strategic national asset. Our lives are in the wrong hands of people. This insanity needs to end and normality brought to our society – the simple peace of mind that we will have electricity. It is quite incredible that we are discussing these issues – fighting for the basics against an organised criminal group. This is like a war for our lives.

Enamalta needs to be taken over by competent and principled technocrats and not the rabble of incompetent and corrupt Labour Party goons that sit on its board today. Immediately, a new government has to set up a Committee for the Seizure of Corrupt Proceeds and the Chinese Enemalta board members asked to resign immediately. Court injunctions should be served on all the proprietors of what was previously public property including the BWSC plant owned by Shanghai Electric and the Electrogas power station. Court cases should start so that all of this public property is extracted legally. Meanwhile, the government has to start negotiations with Shanghai Electric and the Chinese government over the handover of their share of Enemalta back to the government. The government’s aim should be clear – to take back all the proceeds siphoned away via corrupt deals.

Meanwhile, Enemalta needs to re-start rebuilding itself and the government needs to plan various major capital projects including, multiple gas and oil pipelines and a complete reconstruction of the grid along with new battery and substation technology. In order to finance these capital projects, Enemalta has to go to the international markets in order to raise debt. Potentially, in the future after completing its capital projects, Enemalta can keep raising capital by listing itself on the Maltese Stock Exchange and selling a minority of its stock to the public market – that would ensure liquidity, transparency, and less risk of corruption contrary to the scenario of selling shares in the private market. In this way, and indirectly, more capital can be attracted to the local public market given Enemalta’s larger market cap compared to other local companies.

A decent and responsible government would be doing great things for this nation. I genuinely can’t wait to have a normal government where I can be really proud of my nation and my government.

  1. There should be no negotiation. No expropriation which per force would require compensation. Thentransfer to Shanghai Eletric was the result of corruption. So the assets should be seized and court cases instituted for criminal activity and the recovery of damages.

Same applies to Electrogas by the way. Seizure of assets. Mark Gasan should go to jail just like his nannu did. Paul Apap Bologna too. Yorgen is already there. He should face prosecution in this too. Joe Gasan also probably. And what?s the consequence of money laundering? Freeze all their assets. God knows what truths we will find out once that is done.

  2. This person has zero understanding of power generation and simply parrots what someone at Enemalta says. She has to go. Now. Having said that, they all must go. Ministers need to be capable of intellectual discussion. They need to challenge the team around them. They need to be well versed in different fields especially in the field they are directly responsible for. We’ve had power cuts again yesterday. Not enough prior notice. No compensation. No nothing. In your face corruption and the Maltese bend over.

It is beyond belief. If you are employed in industry and you mess up on the job and you are called for a meeting with your boss to explain what happened and how to remedy, the last thing I would mention is how I am amazed and impressed by my abilities.

Come on guys, give her a break. She is an expert, at make-up and manicure. What a shallow person for a minister. She even had the gall to tell Mark Anthony, an engineer, that he has no idea how the system works.

As Minister for Energy, Miriam Dalli was essential to Robert Abela’s deal with Joseph Muscat to cover up for him by basically, allowing Electrogas to continue doing business with the government as if nothing had ever happened. The current shareholders of Electrogas are aware they own a toxic asset that could potentially be seized by the state, and in fact, they tried to unload their shares unsuccessfully having found no buyer. Yet, this was the only success for the Minister, and Miriam Dalli’s legacy as minister is marked with deaths due to the failure of the electric grid and a horrible gas purchase trade which is expected to burn up to ?1 billion in public money.
