The Maltese government has slashed its price for Maltese citizenship from 1.5 million to just 750,000.
I don’t think the government announced this news to the Maltese that it has lowered the price of Maltese passports, but I may be wrong on this (couldn’t find anythign at this time). Supposedly the government was phasing out this scheme and was told by EU officials that the original 1.5 million price tag was too cheap.
Now, you don’t even need to be a millionaire to buy a Maltese passport. Previously we were selling ourselves cheaply and humiliating ourselves as a Banana Republic by selling passports, now we humiliate ourselves even more and tarnish our reputation by giving a 50% discount on passports.
The Opposition should make it very clear that people buying Maltese passports are not welcome in Malta, that this scheme is against the spirit of our constitution, and that a new government will look up all the applicants and revise their applications.
I make this commitment. If I am elected into office I will remove the Golden Passport scheme or whatever is called and I will launch money laundering investigations on passport sellers and passport buyers who bought Maltese passports for 750,000. I will make sure that those who bought a Maltese passport for 750,000 will have their passports returned and their citizenship abrogated. Good luck to them to pursue their case in a local court if they want to.
We have already brought in many Russian and Chinese oligarchs compromising our financial integrity in the process. Now, lowering the price tag means that many more delinquents and shady figures will have access to Maltese passports.
We should make it absolutely clear that whoever buys a Maltese passport for 750,000 will not have a guarantee that he or she can retain this passport once a new government enters office. We have no choice but to step up as a society and fight for what we have left. It is up to us to save our country from this rampant wreckage and criminality.
The serious urgency to remove Labour from power grows every day. Our country is getting wrecked and destroyed by an organised criminal group. We need a normal state of affairs as soon as possible before our country is wrecked to the point of no return.
