Michael Falzon’s fixer for the social benefits racket was Mark Calleja (Il-Gulija), an employee with his secretariat who owns several catering establishments in G?ira. He was also the President of the local Labour Party committee in G?ira. Mark Calleja was also involved in the selection of the board members who would adjudicate the social benefits applications.
Michael Falzon’s constituents are very well aware of who Mark Calleja is and they used to refer to him whenever they needed something from the Minister.
