This is the great hypocrisy and travesty of the Frankfurt Book Fair where the privilege of free speech is only given to Westerners while dissidents and authors in the Arab world and dictatorial countries in Asia are denied their voice.
Mind you, I fully agree with Zizek’s sober analysis of the current war in Gaza. My point is that it is absolutely hypocritical and foolish to allow Westerners to advocate for Palestinians while the Palestinians themselves are denied the privilege to participate and enjoy the benefits of the Fair as equally as Westerners.
