Hamas is a designated terrorist organisation by the EU and the US, yet its leaders are sheltered in Qatar which is also the main financial patron of the organisation. Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas leader and de facto Prime Minister of Gaza who held a press conference where he threatened all Jews in Israel was as of recently, living at the Four Seasons Hotel in Doha.

Good heaven’s!? The suffering and deprivation these guys are enduring.
With this is mind, it seems terribly amiss that the CBC, my native land’s public broadcasting corporation, had adopted a bafflingly questionable policy – that of urging journalists to temper their language when speaking of Hamas.
These journalists have, in fact, been called upon to refrain from using the words “terrorist” and “terrorism” insofar as the 7th October attacks and their perpetrators are concerned.
It had to be a Conservative MP, Rachel Thomas, to point out that “This [Hamas] is a terrorist organization functioning in a sadistic manner”, noting that to suggest otherwise is indeed alarming.
