Bernice Cassar was not failed by the system: she was failed by the Police

Under this Labour government, no one wants to take accountability for anything. The Labour government wants to absolve itself from any responsibility for the current crisis in domestic violence by blaming the system. It’s always convenient to put blame on abstract concepts such as the “system” instead of simply finding the material faults and causes that led to the event.

Bernice Cassar made a series of police reports citing threats to her life days prior she was murdered. Bernice Cassar was failed by the police who were supposed to protect her and no one took any accountability for this.

That is it Mr Camilleri. The police force is manned by people who just go to the office to do the minimal possible. De-motivated and count the years for retirement after 25 years of service. Its populated by officers who pay lip service to duty but happy to have a jopmalgvern

  2. Thats it! She made several reports of threats and he was never arrested!

  3. Unfortunately even if he had been arrested and arraigned he would probably still have been released on bail. In cases such as these where the perpetrator is determined to kill or maim the police are powerless. The system is based and depends on the law as a deterent and geared to be reactive. We have reached a stage where when the honest law abiding citizen requires effective 24/7 protection from such imminent and manifest threats to life and limb there are only 2 courses of action left.
