Justice Minister Jonathan Attard is lying about his money-laundering reform

Previous Super ONE propagandist Jonathan Attard is not a serious person and should be treated accordingly. He wades through his role like a slimy and slithery snake and lies and acts as if he is a student intern at the Kremlin’s propaganda arm, Russia Today. He thinks that his theatre is passable and normal because he has been bullshitting all his life, but in reality, this imbecile is playing with fire and doesn’t understand the minimum consequences of his idiotic actions.

For a moment, let’s put aside the fact that Jonathan Attard is lying about not wanting to rush the law to protect Joseph Muscat. He knows Joseph Muscat is in trouble because he was informed of this by the office of the Attorney General, and Jonathan, as always passed this information to Dear Leader Robert Abela. The findings of the magisterial inquiry on Joseph Muscat’s fraudulent deal are very damning and Robert Abela is preparing for its imminent conclusion with a Saddam Hussein-styled propaganda campaign.

Jonathan Attard is lying about the law because the constitutional courts did not, as he is saying, strike down the ability of the court to freeze all assets, but instead addressed problems of delays. The government is not addressing the problem of delays, it is going against established jurisprudence and legal standards by stripping away the authorities and the court’s ability to freeze all the assets of suspected criminals. The Nationalist Party is proposing what seems a sensible alternative, but even making any knee-jerk reactions to the government’s bill at this stage is wrong. The government’s regular consultants who include previous top civil servants and consultants of the Finance Ministry have also warned the government against its proposed reforms.

The most sensible thing to do is to do nothing. This is not how reforms in financial criminal law are made in Malta – usually, there is a very long process that starts with consultations and continues with drafts by technical experts: this is an arbitrary and out-of-the-blue move that is being rushed to protect Joseph Muscat and it can have very negative consequences on our status as a financial jurisdiction.

[…] In fact, there are plenty of individuals in the Police, the FIAU, the Central Bank, the MFSA, and even in the judiciary, along with individuals in other state entities that are quite in agreement with the introduction of a law that addresses undeclared wealth.
