More than 200 Christians have been murdered in Nigeria since Christmas Day

More than 200 Christians have been killed in various states in the South-East of Nigeria since Christmas Day. The attacks have been perpetrated by Islamic groups with the tacit approval of the Nigerian Security Forces. More than 52,000 Christians have been murdered by Islamic militants in Nigeria since the Islamic group Boko Haram started its war in 2009.

Consecutive Nigerian governments have ignored the persecution of the Christian minority in the majority Muslim country, and the current President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has broken a tradition of picking a Christian as the President’s deputy.
