Johann Schembri employed two PEPs with his companies after he obtained the bargain lease deal for his Dragonara Casino. He employed the PN’s Chief Communications Officer, Pierre Portelli with Pinnacle Gaming Group. According to Dragonara’s annual financial statements, Pinnacle Gaming Group is the ultimate parent company of the Dragonara Casino. This is distinct from their public description provided here, so there may have been some changes since then.
The other PEP under Johann Schembri’s employ was Joseph Muscat whom he employed in a fake company of his called Organicum. It’s officially a registered company, for sure, but it’s his hobby of exotic birds more of an actual company and it doesn’t have any means to generate revenue.
Why would Johann Schembri humiliate Joseph Muscat to this extent by giving him such a stupid and ridiculous role? Joseph Muscat is literally, a consultant to Johann Schembri about exotic birds – parrots to be exact. Espert tal-pappagalli.
It sounds right as a joke and I’m sure this is how Joseph Muscat was given this role. Johann Schembri was obliged to reward and pay Joseph Muscat for the favorable deal Joseph Muscat had given to Dragonara whilst in government. Being a very arrogant boss and full of himself, I do not doubt that Johann Schembri saw Joseph Muscat’s bribe as a personal inconvenience that bothered him, so he humiliated Muscat by making him his expert on parrots. I can even imagine the thoughts that went to his head.
