The Azeris seem to be confused about the difference between the Council of Europe and the European Council of the EU

Following Azerbaijan’s suspension from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the Azeris in Tbilisi Georgia have held a protest in front of the EU headquarters in the city. There is some confusion here.

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe is not an institution of the European Union, it’s a separate and independent institution comprising, in fact, not just EU members, but also members such as Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine. In addition, the Azeris, can’t surely complain about the EU’s relationship with them given that the EU is actually trading more with them since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, apart from being allowed to take over Nagorno-Karabakh and expel 100,000 of its residents with impunity.

There is nothing that isn’t laughable about this theatre of anti-Western protest. Ultimately, the Azeri government was too scared to mount a protest back home, so they had to make use of Georgia, a quasi-Russian colony, to express their propaganda message: mistakenly at the wrong institution. Truly a case of the clowns coming out.
