Discussions held by the Ukrainian government with foreign allies over the past week have centred on plans for the return of Ukrainian children kidnapped by Russia. Echoing these discussions, Ukraine’s First Lady, Olena Zelensky, was in Riga this week and stressed that up to 20,000 Ukrainian children remain in captivity in Russia. President Zelensky addressed this issue with the Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly, who highlighted the need for international organisations to support Ukraine in resolving this matter. On Friday, President Zelensky also discussed with Mata’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ian Borg, how the OSCE could assist Ukraine in bringing its children back home. Malta currently chairs the presidency of the OSCE.
