At Dar Camilleri, we are currently finalizing our upcoming publication, to be published in the UK, of the translation of the seminal Maltese literary texts of “L-Antoloġija tal-Letteratura Mqarba”. These are the most controversial texts published in Malta in the last forty years, starting with Alfred Buttiġieġ’s publication of “Dik il-Qtajra” published in the 1980s and ending with Loranne Vella’s “Dawn l-erbat ikmamar l’għandi” published earlier in this century. Other texts include an excerpt from Ġuże Stagno’s “Inbid ta’ kuljum”, an excerpt from Karl Schembri’s “Il-Manifest tal-Killer” and a short story by Immanuel Mifsud called “Ultras”. The collection also includes Alex Vella Gera’s “Li Tkisser Sewwi” and all the texts come with critical commentary by the relevant literary experts.
The texts have been translated by professor Clare Vassallo, except for Loranne Vella’s which has been translated by Kat Storace, and Alfred Buttiġieġ’s which has been translated by Raymond Facciol.
Finishing such a complex book always brings a lot of stress especially given the number of people involved, but we can safely say that everything is on track and we will be launching this book in London on March 13th at Housmans Radical Booksellers (King’s Cross). Everyone is invited to attend to the event where the book will be available for sale.
There’s a lot that I’d like to say and I will say about this, starting tonight. For now, I’m going to crash.
