If Maltese artists had an ounce of courage

Austin Camilleri, the mediocre artist who is imposing his ugliness onto the general public wants to pretend he is a “provocative” artist.

I’m genuinely sick with these narcissistic-useful-tools who feel a sense of entitlement over our public spaces as if they own the country. Let’s make it very clear. Austin Camilleri is not provoking anything other than rage against the rent-seeking, manipulation and irregular take over of our public spaces by the associates of the Labour Party. Austin Camilleri is part of a group of Maltese artists who have the government’s favor, have access to government funds and are often called up by Ministers and the Labour government to implement vanity projects.

I didn’t even know Austin Camilleri existed until he tried to impose on us his work through his government approved projects. I know who the Maltese artists and sculptors are that have international reach and great art, and Austin Camilleri is not one of them. I’m not going to mention any names because this is not the point. The point is that Austin Camilleri is being propped up by the government to create the fake illusion that the government is supporting art and engaging in artistic projects to improve the country. The reality is that as of 2013, the Labour government has littered the country with many vanity and ridiculous artistic projects that are incredibly ugly. These people have a sense of entitlement so big that they pretend, that we the public have to accept their rubbish in our public spaces.

Meanwhile, someone posted this image on Facebook. I have been an advocate for a monument to Daphne Caruana Galizia ever since I was the Executive Chairman of the National Book Council. Previously, I had a mellow position, today, I believe that Daphne’s monument would be quite suitable as a replacement for Queen Victoria’s which can go inside a museum.

Austin Camilleri who very much depends on the government to make his work known to the public, would, of course, never come up with such an idea.

Labour’s gang of artists is more like a bunch of eunuchs and useful fools, rather than a group of talented and provocative individuals.
