In continuation, with this article published earlier in the morning, here is a comment by a Marsaxlokk parishioner defending the priest. They don’t care he swindled them hundreds of thousands of Euros to pay for his vices, instead they are more concerned about the media “defaming” him.
The press reported on his arraignment and ongoing court case, and it’s only the very details of his case that ridicule him, not that the press is actively working to smear him. If he wasn’t a priest, he would probably have been an object of ridicule, yet even in these particular circumstances, he is still able to enjoy the sacred privilege bestowed by the same parishioners he swindled.
Update: I got to learn that the person on the right of the photo is Marsaxlokk local councilor Daniel Zerafa who also had positive comments to say about the priest after he was arraigned n court.
