Learning on the job, as a Prime Minister and on national security

All political leaders get to learn about national security on the job because it is a very sensitive and complex subject, but I haven’t seen anyone fumble so hard ever since Joseph Muscat appointed Emmanuel Mallia as Home Affairs Minister and the Minister made his debut with a visit to the prison facility where he was greeted by inmates as a hero.

I suppose that by now, Robert Abela has learned that unlike other government policies and areas, he can’t formulate national security policy simply by asking Aleander Balzan to deliver a Sunday sermon.
