Erdogan’s ruling AKP Party is attempting to overturn his electoral defeat in several Kurdish cities in the East of Turkey by appointing mayors and candidates from the AKP who lost the election, instead of allowing the electoral winners to take office. Police brutality has been reported in the cities were this authoritarian takeover is ongoing including in Hakkâri and Van.
