Protests in Tbilisi mostly led by the youth have continued after Parliament approved the “Russian Law”. Several demonstrators have been arrested and fined, while some legislators in the US have discussed introducing sanctions against the Georgian legislators who authored the Russian Law. The law is a copy of a Russian law passed in 2012 called the “Foreign Agent Act” which is aimed at curtailing aid to local groups and individuals from foreign NGOs, institutions and groups.
