Today, at the Labour Party’s Annual General Conference, Prime Minister Robert Abela threatened the judiciary with an explicit threat warning them not to conduct any “political terrorism”. In a typical dictatorial manner, Robert Abela also threatened his opponents implicitly by accusing them of being part of “the Establishment that is seeking revenge”. It’s a textbook diatribe of a dictator who feels that his power is being threatened, and it’s made by condemning the political opposition as a target, describing it as a threat to the nation. For a long time, Robert Abela has described me as a traitor to his ministers, colleagues and inner circle. The only traitors today, apart from Robert Abela himself, are the Labour Party’s top brass and top propagandists who are writing these toxic and unauthentic Saddam-like speeches that will drag down the Labour Party into the dustbin of history. Robert Abela seems to genuinely think he slide himself through an electoral victory by attacking the rule of law whilst keeping the Labour Party as a an intact and victorious political force. Impunity, recklessness, criminality, greed and a sheltered-life has allowed Robert Abela to believe that everything can be possible in politics without invoking negative consequences.
He is of course wrong because this is not the 1990s. The decision to modernise the country and become Europeans in values has already been taken and insofar as the future of the country holds, the Labour Party is only standing in the way. The fight for rule of law-of-law and a liberal, free and democratic society, which necessitates a fight against organised crime, is not going away tomorrow because Robert Abela calls us traitors. Robert Abela can chose to fight the times and condemn himself and the Party in the process or else, try and save himself by for the for the first time ever, let the police and prosecutors work in peace, and for a brief moment, learn to shut the fuck up.
