With reference to the comments provided by the current Executive Chairman of the National Book Council Mark Camilleri to MaltaToday, I can confirm that I have not signed any contracts with the National Book Council. I also confirm that discussions were held by the Ministry of Education and myself over an out of court settlement with regard to my constitutional case against the National Book Council. I prefer to continue our fight in court after the Executive Chairman of the National Book Council, intentionally, disclosed unconfirmed details that I signed a contract to MaltaToday when this was not actually the case.
We have always remained consistent in our approach that the current incumbent is unfit for purpose and should resign from his post and we will stick to this position.
We would also like to remind readers that the National Book Council and MaltaToday have an ongoing commercial relationship between each other. MaltaToday is a fully funded government newspaper whose owner acts as a fully-funded government propagandist.
As for the libelous allegations made against me personally, I prefer to clarify them in the ongoing court case.
We are confident in our legal strategy that it would eventually lead us to a positive result in our favour as it would potentially address, the National Book Council’s ongoing discriminatory practices, its anti-competitive economic practices and the blatant political corruption by which it operates, leading to the justified economic compensation incurred along the years. Unlike Robert Abela and the Labour Party, we don’t fear decisions by our local Courts.
This website is run by Mark Camilleri and his team. We never accept money for our stories. We receive around ย100 per month in donations by small donors, and this year for the first time we received an advert from a government entity, more specifically, the Malta Financial Services Authority for which we were paid ย450. Except for The Shift News and myself, the whole media sector and industry in Malta is fully-funded by the government. Dar Camilleri remains resilient despite financial challenges for being cut off from a meaningful source of funding. We intend to keep surviving and grow with whatever it takes in terms of pain suffering, despite constantly refusing money and acting in an ethical manner and by striving to obtain funds in a legitimate and legal way.
Of course, we understand that Saviour Balzan and others in the press industry who receive millions of euros in funds and survive with a government pay-cheque will try to bully us as we achieve and unlock new legitimate and legal financial opportunities. You can all go fuck yourselves.
As for our readers, we will be transparent and will always make the necessary disclosures. We have always declared with any negotiating party that our reporting and work will remain unaffected by any funding we receive, and this will continue to be the case.
