Following the OSCE’s meeting with Azerbaijan’s dictator Ilham Aliyev, I have also been told by the officials present that no bilateral talks between Malta and Azerbaijan were held during the visit. The OSCE delegation is currently being led Malta’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ian Borg, who is also chairing the OSCE on behalf of Malta.
Azerbaijan’s state oil company Socar has a share in the Electrogas consortium which is currently being investigated in a Magisterial inquiry for corruption and its connection with the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.
