Carmelo Abela, the Labour MP who was investigated for his alleged involvement in the infamous Qormi HSBC Bank heist, wasn’t so forthcoming with denials this time round. He refused to answer my messages about whether he has received an invite from Joseph and Michelle Muscat to go to Barbados and whether he is attending.
Everyone is being so secretive about this meeting as if the guests know that what they are doing is wrong. Imagine if this ends up being an Interpol-Agatha-Christie version of “Then there were none” with none of them coming back home as they are hauled to US court for facilitating money-laundering abroad. US Federal laws can actually reach foreign corrupt individuals abroad who engage in fraud and corruption with US-based companies.
