Education Minister Clifton Grima has used and pushed the agreement proposed to the Malta Union of Teachers as a political tool for the European parliament election, and his supporters are acting along this supposition to back the Minister and the Labour Party.
The Minister should divert his efforts to form better agreements with his stakeholders instead of wasting his time thinking in electoral terms. On the other hand, teachers and union members won’t lose anything by delaying an agreement for a couple of days and weeks, and may even get a better deal.
