He did not blame the civil service – let’s get real

I’m happy to beat down Prime Minister Robert Abela myself, and he holds my work in a very special place in his politics, for good or for worse, but it doesn’t make sense to attack him on things he did not say – that would make us similar to him.

Never did Robert Abela blame the civil service or workers. His delivery was horrible, but what he was saying was that he expects his government executives to work harder. Any Prime Minister as head of the executive is in his right to make such statements.

The problem is that most of the government executives have been approved by himself, and Robert Abela has no meaningful or intelligent friends to turn to for help or expertise. In contrast, a government by Roberta Metsola would probably be made up of Malta’s top technocrats and bureaucrats.

I agree that Abela filled everywhere with incompetents, but let’s be real Mark, you sincerely think Metsola wouldn’t appoint people loyal to her?

      I beg to differ.
I do not have any problem with Metsola or whoever else is in charge appointing loyal individuals around her as long as they are competent! And I am pretty sure that Madame President has some very competent individuals around her.
The problem here is that half of the current executive credentials are, mainly being ‘Super One jesters’ or part of the ‘Laburist sal mewt brigade’.

  2. Cannot agree with you on this Mark. When he said it he was referring to all civil service positions EXCEPT for the executives. He Literally said that he sees no problem at the TOP LEVEL and that everyone gives his 100% there. The problem is with the Lower levels of civil service.

    1. Top-level tier is his circle. And civil-servants are also directors and executives.

Let’s get real indeed, Mark. Abela’s exact words were:

    “Kull min hu fl-istruttura tal-gvern”.

If that’s not the civil service, then what’s “the struttural tal-gvern?”

He also exonerated “the top tier… min hu b?ali u ta’ madwari”. Yes, he had to gall to absolve his Cabinet from the fracas the country is in.
