More on “legitimate criticism” about the Malta Police Union. There was always some ambiguity for me about whether directors, CEOs, or Heads of Departments should be eligible to enroll in trade unions. I think that in most cases, they should not be allowed to because they have distinctive interests from the general workforce in terms of industrial relations.
In any case, I don’t understand what is so personal and illegitimate about calling out the Head of the Financial Crimes Department for charging to court suspects in the biggest money-laundering in history, without arresting them first and having them forced to pay bail. Or maybe, he can answer the other more pernicious question as to why they charged suspects in court without even reading the Magisterial Inquiry that supposedly caused the charges in the first place. Another interesting question may be whether he thinks it is appropriate for a high-profile criminal suspect accused of money-laundering to be flying to Barbados.
What’s so personal about this? Is the Assistant Commissioner feeling “under coordinated persecution from the Elite European-Brussels-Controlled-Establishment?”
Maybe, he should clarify these questions with an interview like he use to do before he was promoted.
