The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project has released an interesting story with a cache of emails showing how up to €7 million were funneled by Steward Health Care to the Swiss company Accutor which distributed bribes to a month others, Shaukat Ali and Joseph Muscat himself.
Finance executives at Steward Health Care seem to have been aware aware of the ongoing fraud according to their own emails. On a question by an accountant on a $3 million transaction:
“It’s the wire for the purchase of the Malta hospitals concession from Vitals. Eventually we will do some purchase accounting work around that.” – Vice-President of Finance Steward Health Care, Jacob Frumkin.
