One Labour government MP and three PN MPs have attended the annual Free Iran Conference held in Paris by the People’s Mujahedin of Iran. Last year Opposition Leader Bernard Grech attended the conference and gave a ten-minute speech in support of last year’s uprising by Iranian women.
The People’s Mujahedin of Iran is a dissident political party that has been led since its founding by Maryam Rajavi. It’s a moderate Islamic left-wing party that is against the Shah and the current Islamic regime. Previously, it was an armed military organisation and a designated terrorist organisation, before the US and the European Union removed it from their lists by 2013. Today, the organisation still advocates for the overthrow of the Islamic Regime of Iran.
Previous US Vice-President Mike Pence also attended this year’s conference.
