Vladimir Putin is in Astana, Kazakhstan, meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping. Putin received the blue-carpet treatment upon landing in the Kazakh capital, with Kazakhstan’s President Kassym Tokayev personally greeting only Xi Jinping at the airport.
In a press conference, Putin heaped praise on Donald Trump’s proposal to end the war in Ukraine calling it “sincere”. Donald Trump’s plane has also been recently spotted parked next to a Russian embassy staff plane in the US. Donald Trump intends to propose to end the war with Russia taking over conquered territory in Ukraine and a commitment for Ukraine not to join NATO. Ukraine is not ready to accept these proposals.
Donald Trump is aligning himself with Russia’s interests over those of Europe, NATO, and Ukraine, highlighting clear divergences on Ukrainian policy between the EU and most of its member states.
