Deceased Prosecutor Karl Muscat was to arraign and charge Anton Refalo in Court for stealing a historic marker

Heritage Malta Chairman Mario Cutajar has revealed that Agriculture Minister Anton Refalo has returned the historic British stone marker he had stolen. Lately, two individuals have also been charged for stealing historic items stored at Heritage Malta Museums. Anton Refalo stole the British stone marker from a public road in Gozo.

The government can have the discretion to negotiate the return of stolen items, but it has no authority to prevent the Police from prosecuting and investigating the thieves who originally stole the items.

Deceased Prosecutor Karl Muscat was drawing up a case about Anton Refalo and the stone-marker he stole just before he died. Karl Muscat had also asked the Police to investigate the Minister over the case.

Since Karl Muscat has died, the investigation and the case over Anton Refalo has been put on hold, but any Prosecutor or Police investigator can pick it up again to make sure that Anton Refalo faces justice for his crime.
