Ronald Mizzi is the civil-servant who approved all of Konrad Mizzi’s corrupt projects: but he never did anything wrong

Yesterday, after being indicted in court, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economy, Ronald Mizzi, resigned. He said he resigned “after careful consideration” but also said that he never did anything wrong.

Ronald Mizzi, who as Konrad Mizzi’s permanent secretary approved all of his corrupt projects including Electrogas, the wind-farm in Montenegro and Vitals, says he never did anything wrong. He was just doing his job: using the civil-service to approve corrupt projects on a full-time basis.

“After careful consideration”. I would love to see his face when the prosecutor asks him if he ever gave any “careful consideration” to his work when he was blatantly approving corrupt projects.

They never do anything wrong these assholes. They have built their lives and careers abetting and covering-up corruption, yet they expect to keep working with the government in top jobs as if what they did was normal and regular. It wasn’t. Ronald Mizzi is a typical parasite in the civil service who is fully aware that he is involved in corrupt projects but keeps signing the papers anyway because he is unprincipled and amoral. He doesn’t care about the implications of his work, he only cares about how his employer perceives him, and for this reason he can’t ever earn a top position with the government. Imagine someone like him working for a private corporation where he would be signing papers for multiple corrupt projects on a regular basis that would incur the company significant economic damage and then tells his boss that he didn’t do anything wrong.

It’s incredible the level of entitlement these people have. They have destroyed not only the government and the state itself, but have even corrupted the spirit of the public service.

That’s what they said at the Nuremberg trails: We were only following orders.

  2. Since the Labour Party was elected to government in 2013, it has appointed a diverse group of individuals as permanent secretaries. These appointments included technocrats, individuals with questionable integrity, and others who appeared to be overly compliant. Ronald Mizzi, who served as permanent secretary to Konrad Mizzi, was appointed to manage various projects. However, his tenure has been marred by allegations of corruption. Ronald Mizzi has been accused of facilitating and concealing corrupt activities through bureaucratic means. Despite multiple reports from the National Audit Office highlighting his misconduct, no significant action was taken by former Head of Civil Service Mario Cutajar or his successor, Tony Sultana. This lack of accountability has been a source of embarrassment for the public administration!
