Protests in Bangladesh demand the resignation of the government: unofficial death tool at more than 1000 people

Protests in Bangladesh are continuing and have escalated into explicit calls for the government and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resign.

More footage of police and armed forces shooting on civillians is emerging while the unofficial death toll estimate of those killed by the police and armed forces is up to 1000 people. Up to 9000 people have been arrested. WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and many other applications and social media sites are currently banned in Bangladesh.

22 US Senators and Congress members have urged the US Government to take measures to support the pligh of democracy of the Bangladeshi people.
