Yesterday evening at the Labour Party Headquarters in ?amrun a meeting was held with the Labour Party Executive Committee and Prime Minister Robert Abela. Robert Abela proposed the Executive Committee to change the statute to enable MPs and MEPs and cotnest the Labour Party Deputy Leadership race.
The Executive Committee is opposed to this idea and they don’t want Alex Agius Saliba to contest the Deputy-Leadership race. The Labour Party Head of its Electoral Committee, Maria Vella was replaced with a Robert Abela loyalist to ensure this transition. Members of the Executive Committee were leaving the room as the meeting progressed in opposition to the move.
Another meeting was held between Alex Agius Saliba and Robert Abela and they agreed they will team and back each other. Alex Agius Saliba will be contesting the Labour Party Deputy-Leadership race with Robert Abela’s approval and backing.
Many Labour Party delegates are gainst this move because they don’t want a Robert Abela loyalist as Deputy-Leader but few are opposing Robert Abela’s move in fear they will be purged.
