There was a lot of talk but no tangible results from a meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow this week. Abbas who visited with a delegation of the Palestinian National Organisation met Putin along with Russian Foreign Affairs Minister, Sergey Lavrov.
Last month, China claimed that it mediated a unity deal between rival organisations Fatah and Hamas on the promise of $70 billion in reconstruction aid for Gaza.
