Despite court convictions, magisterial inquiries, pending court cases, a prime minister’s resignation, and a historic wave of events that affected the country and its people, Tumas Group, the original source of the Electrogas consortium and the subsequent developments, has faced no consequences whatsoever and has continued dealing with the government as if it’s business as usual.
Electrogas is still allowed to make a profit and even making a profit while a Magisterial Inquiry about the project is yet to be unraveled. Robert Abela chose Miriam Dalli to take the Energy portfolio to keep a lid on Joseph Muscat’s and Labour’s corrupt history in the sector. Tumas Group has even been rewarded a series of direct orders by the government as it does traditionally to many contractors especially who are its donors. Yorgen Fenech has been allowed great freedom in prison as well, despite official warnings that were ignored.
The Labour government has acted and carried out its work as if a journalist was never murdered, and the country can move on from this event without any concern for its implications or the responsibility that must be borne by those who led, caused, and abetted the event.
