Joseph Muscat pocketed €2 million from the government deal with Mario Camilleri of Café Premier

I recieved this story earlier today from a source who knows Mario Camilleri intimately well. Mario Camilleri was the previous owner of the failed Café Premier that was bailed-out to the tune of €4,2 million so that he could vacate the public premises.

I can confirm that Joseph Muscat pocketed up to €2 million from the deal.

I will be releasing more stories and information on this scandal gradually.

  1. This, if backed up by strong evidence is a massive crime and needs to be investigated further. Nobody in their right mind should allow such a theft to happen.

  2. Did Deborah Schembri really spend two years brokering and nurturing this deal from 2011-2013?
Was this the first scandal to break after the March 2013 election?

For those not investment savvy, the Purchase Contract Note should contain your name, the date and the amount of your investment – like if you went to make a deposit in the bank. The bank cannot at a later date wave a deposit slip for a different name, date and amount and say “your deposit is somewhere in here”.

This is occasionally done when the broker purchases a ‘tranche’ at a discounted rate, and then sells their holding off in bits and pieces to their client. (Note: this is contrary to good practice as the aim is to divest of the holding, rather than to give sound ‘financial advice’.) This constitutes insider trading.
