Eritrean troops move into Somalia as talks between Ethiopia and Somalia break down

Talks between Ethiopia and Somalia as brokered by Turkey have broken down and will not be rescheduled any time soon.

Meanwhile, Eritrean forces have moved into Somalia to assist it against Ethiopian forces which have invaded southern Somalian airports to prevent the further influx of Egyptian forces into Somalia. Ethiopia and Eritrea fought against each other from 1998 to 2018 over their border dispute.

Ethiopia is facing off Somalia for hosting Egyptian officers who landed in Somalia in response to Ethiopia’s construction of the Grand Renaissance Dam. Egypt is also being accused by Ethiopia of inciting Fano rebels in the northern regions of Ethiopia. Somalia, on the other hand is accusing Ethiopia of funding and supporting Al-Shahab: an Islamic terrorist group.
