Israel invades Lebanon and Hezbollah fires back

Yesterday evening, the Israeli Defence Force invaded the south of Lebanon from various directions. The Lebanese Army has retreated five kilometres behind the border as Israeli tanks and artillery shelled Hezbollah positions. Hezbollah is fighting back with a range of Iranian-manufactured heavy-weapons including a Noor missile that was used by Hezbollah for the first time.

Israel launched at least thirty airstrikes across the south of Lebanon in various towns including in Rmeish, Khiyam and Blida. Israeli airstrikes were also reported in Beirut and in Bednayel, Qara and Harmel in the north of Lebanon.

Late last week, Israel forced the Lebanese authorities to refuse entry to an an aircraft of the Iranian IRGC that flew from Tehran and was bound to Beirut.
