Some facts to consider on the recent libel case against Jason Azzopardi by Carmelo Abela

Yesterday, Jason Azzopardi was slapped with libel damages by the Court over his claims that Carmelo Abela was involved in the infamous Qormi HSBC heist.

I would like to point out some facts about this case which are not opinion, but actual facts.

  • Carmelo Abela was indeed a suspect in the Qormi HSBC heist and was interrogated by the police on the matter. I confirmed this myself from top-ranking police officers.
  • There was indeed an accomplice from HSBC and HSBC employees also suspected Carmelo Abela. This also I could confirm myself.
  • The high-ranking Police officer responsible for investigating Carmelo Abela was recently promoted, and has yet to prove himself in his work given his questionable political loyalties.
  • The allegation in public that Carmelo Abela was involved in the Qormi HSBC heist originated from theย  Degiorgio brothers who are known to be pathological liars and are currently serving time in jail for killing Daphne Caruana Galizia.

This is all I can say about the case about Carmelo Abela and I can’t be the judge to say whether he was involved or not. What I write here are just the facts at hand. I think that Jason Azzopardi couldn’t say these things in court, so hopefully this points a better picture of the situation.

The free speech sometimes can hurt others and don’t be punished as the pain that feels who receives the accusations

  2. This is only an initial judgement. Jason Azzopardi will appeal.

  3. […] Carmelo Abela lost his job at HSBC for being suspected and investigated by the Police of having taken part in the HSBC Qormi heist. This is a fact and not speculation which multiple of sources have already confirmed many times to different journalists. He’s also very shallow and historically useless. It’s hard to understand why a PN MP would want to see him in a ministerial position. […]
