The investigation on Archpriest Joseph Curmi, which was eventually linked to the case of professor Joseph Bonnici, initially started via discrepancies with the earned income and declared income of the Archpriest and some of his relatives. The case was flagged to the Police by the tax authorities.
The Archpriest denied he was being investigated but the FCID have also questioned witnesses and applied for arrest warrants in relation to the case. The Archpriest is expected to be arraigned in court in the coming weeks.
