Jimmy “Swindling” Magro wants public land for his olive trees

Readers of this website may remember Jimmy “Swindling” Magro, the ex-secretary general of the Labour Party charged in Court over corruption in relation to EU funds, who then transformed himself into an olive-oil producer also thanks to EU funds. He is head and founder of an organisation called “Kooperattiva Produttir taz-Zebbug Ltd” (Olive Growers Cooperative). To date, he has secured over โ‚ฌ400,000 in EU funds for this enterprise and has personally earned more than โ‚ฌ28,000 in professional fees from it

Now, Jimmy Swindling wants public land for his new enterprise. The Minister of Agriculture, Anton Refalo hasn’t heeded his requests for a public property. Specifically, Jimmy Magro wants the government’s Buskett Winery. He has also been protesting against the LANDS Chairman for refusing him a meeting to discuss his requests.

He also wants the government to buy his olive oil. That’s a very strange request because can you imagine a government minister gifting his olive to a foreign dignitary? What a total delusional clown.

Apparently, anyone can form a cooperative, write a nice proposal and submit to the European Union for some funding. This is also not the first time that swindlers and fraudsters have been rehabilitated as farmers thanks to EU funding: it seems to be a trend by some Labour Party figures. Just like Kurt Buhagiar.
