Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem celebrates 25 Years of transforming lives and supporting homeless communities

Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem marks a significant milestone, celebrating 25 years of dedicated service to Malta’s homeless population.

Established by the Aħwa Kapuċċini Maltin in 1999, the foundation has provided residential and holistic support to over 2,000 individuals, offering not only shelter but a comprehensive path to rebuilding lives.

Guided by St. Francis of Assisi’s teachings, the organization offers a safe haven and tailored care through five residential facilities. This year alone, it supported 281 new referrals. Stories like that of “Mark,” who overcame substance abuse with the foundation’s help, and “Mary,” a mother rebuilding her life with her child, highlight the transformative impact of Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem‘s services.

“Celebrating 25 years of Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem is a profound moment for all of us,” says Chairperson Marique Sciberras. “Our mission remains steadfast–to ensure that no one in our country is left without a home or hope.”

The foundation’s work is funded through partnerships with the Ministry for Social Policy, the Ministry for Health, and other donors. General Manager Sarah Bondin emphasized ongoing improvements to ensure holistic care for every resident, with hopes to continue expanding outreach in the future.
