The German government has collapsed yesterday following a cabinet meeting where Finance Minister Christian Lindner was fired by his Chancellor. Chancellor Olaf Scholz and his Minister of Finance fell out over the government’s budget and debt provisions which the Finance Minister insisted to keep low. Olaf Scholz wants more permissive spending rules to augment German defenses and a pause of the debt break.
Elections will be held if the government fails to security a majority vote in the Bundestag.
