No vacancy planned for Deputy Attorney-General, yet

Following the publication of this story noting that Deputy Attorney-General has not been named, The Maltese Herald can confirm with its sources at the Ministry of Justice that there are no plans yet by the Office of the Attorney-General to issue a vacancy for the post.

The source also claimed that the delays are primarily due to concerns from all parties involved, including the Ministry and the Office of the Attorney General, about the lack of qualified and experienced candidates who are interested in and available for the role.

Rumours previously touted European Prosecutor Geoffrey Azzopardi as a potential replacement to the previous Deputy Attorney-General Philip Galea Farrugia.

Hardly surprising no one appears to be interested in the role of Deputy AG. Philip Galea Farrugia deserves a sainthood for having put up with Victoria Buttigieg for so long. Such a shame he didn’t get the top job.
